#1-04: Sustainable control of phytophagous mites

Organizers: Josep A. Jacas and Patrick De Clercq

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management including a series of evaluations, decisions and controls. Sampling methods and action thresholds are necessary for any educated control decision. Further, control methods have to be carefully chosen as IPM gives priority to the deliberate use of natural mortality factors to replace potentially polluting inputs. In this symposium, different talks will address the sustainable management of mite species of economic importance in different crop systems. This symposium will include talks covering these different features of IPM, from sampling techniques and the setting of action thresholds, to the environmental engineering of the whole system.
